Lorsque Norio Sawada fonde  Nenohi en 1975, il  espérait créer des couteaux japonais qui seraient appréciés dans le monde entier.Le président de Nenohi et propriétaire actuel de la marque, Yusuke Sawada, est né et a grandi à Sakai, le berceau des couteaux traditionnels au Japon. Il consacra ses années d'études à la connaissance  des techniques traditionnelles de forge et d'affûtage, espérant devenir à son tour maître de forge. Mais ce qui devait rester un rêve lui permit néanmoins de mettre ses connaissances au service de la marque Nenohi afin de continuer à accroître sa renommée.

When Norio Sawada established Nenohi in 1975, he aspired to create Japanese knives that would be appreciated by the world. Current president and owner of Nenohi, Yusuke Sawada, was born and raised around kitchen knives in Sakai, Japan, a city known for its knife craftsmanship. He learned the traditional techniques of knife forging and sharpening while he was still a student, in hopes of one day becoming a craftsman. Although, he was not able to attain his dream, he used the skills and knowledge he gained from this training to constantly improve the Nenohi company.
